Former F1 driver Jan Magnussen to drive GT Motorsport Van Diemen RF78 at the 2024 Walter Hayes

PRESS RELEASE - GT MOTORSPORTS IN ASSOCIATION WITH @scholarengines AND @thejamesbeckett
Our first driver to be announced for the 2024 Walter Hayes Trophy is no other than 4 Time Le Mans winner, Sports car ace, Ex-McLaren and Stewart F1 driver Jan Magnussen. After a very successful outing at the Festival in 2021, Jan will be trying his hand at the James Beckett Walter Hayes Trophy in our brand new GT Motorsports Van Diemen RF78, sporting the same Duckhams livery from his 1992 Festival campaign. In the RF78, Jan will be mainly competing in the Pre-82 class Carl Hamer Trophy, while we’re sure he’ll be working his way up the WHT heats also. With our extensive experience of Classic FF1600’s and Jan’s recent pace showed at the Silverstone Festival, he should certainly be competitive in class and overall. The main thing, however, is for him to have fun - and as a good friend of ours - hopefully come back! Partnering Magnussen will be our very own Craig Currie in the “works” GT Covers liveried Crosslè 30F. The previous Star of Mallory and Champion of Brands race winner will be trying his hand once again at Silverstone following an unlucky 2022 WHT weekend. Craig has proved his pace on 2,3 and 4 wheels, and is looking forward to getting out again after running well at Croft. |
